Slender House to Debut at 2024 World Architecture Festival

Slender House

The Slender House, designed by Kapil Aggarwal of Spaces Architect@ka, has been selected for the Completed House/Villa Urban/Suburban Category at the 17th World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2024. This prestigious festival, which has been uniting the global architecture community for over a decade, will feature the house alongside other notable architectural projects. The event attracts thousands of architects, designers, and suppliers each year to celebrate, learn, and explore new trends in architecture.

Slender House is situated on a compact plot measuring 6 meters by 18 meters, serving as a private residence for a family of five. The design showcases the potential of small-scale living, demonstrating that a limited footprint can still make a significant impact. The project has garnered attention from major publications such as The Guardian, CNN, Archdaily, and Tatlerasia, highlighting its innovative approach and design excellence.

Kapil Aggarwal, the principal architect, emphasized the house’s ability to make a bold statement despite its slim profile. “Slender House exemplifies a new wave of design philosophy that values quality over quantity,” Aggarwal remarked. His firm, Spaces Architect@ka, is known for its responsive and thoughtful design approach, aiming to create spaces that reflect both user needs and contextual considerations.

The WAF 2024 selection process involved a panel of 175 international judges, including Peter Cook, Nigel Coates, and Mario Cucinella. Out of 800 submissions from over 350 firms across 71 countries, 480 designs were chosen across 33 categories. Finalists will present their projects live at the festival in Singapore, competing for top honors before a distinguished judging panel.

Spaces Architect@ka, an award-winning firm, has received over 50 national and international accolades, including multiple honors from the Institute of Interior Designers (IIID) and recognition for projects such as Haveli Dharampura, which won the Forbes Design Award for Best Conservation and Restoration Project.
